BOE Fuel Surge Tank and Fuel System Enhancement- The Ultimate Cure for the Destructive Lotus "Fuel Starve": $749
Background
As many Lotus track enthusiasts know, the Elise/Exige suffers from fuel starve on high G left hand sweepers. Several have lost engines to this. The Elise/Exige platform has the fuel pick-up on the far driver's side of the car. Consequently, an aggressive driver with less than 1/2-3/4 of a tank of fuel will often find the car sputtering during long left hand sweepers. This lack of fuel simply causes annoying sputtering on the normally aspirated cars, but typically causes severe detonation and broken ring lands in the super/turbo charged cars.
The kit is made entirely in-house. It is the ultimate fuel system enhancement that leaves room for future power upgrades and absolutely eliminates any chance of fuel starvation on the track.
Features
Fuel Pump
We include a Walbro 255LPH fuel pump that has enough capacity to feed well over 400 horsepower to the wheels.
Fuel Pressure Regulator
You'll also find a top of the fuel pressure regulator from Aeromotive. This is an important detail, as it allows for fine tuning the fuel delivery to meet the needs of any Lotus tune (Lotus, CharlieX, EFI, Hydra, Vision Function, Etc). Most Lotus and CX tunes require the base fuel pressure to be set at 47PSI, where the EFI tunes are often set up for 53psi. There's also a boost reference port on the regulator that will extend the power range of a fuel injector for the day you decide to really step up the horsepowerÉ
Attention to detail
Preassembled fuel lines with all -6 AN fuel fittings, fuel pressure gauge, weather pack relay with associated wiring, race proven Deutsch connectors, and bespoke mounting hardware all are part of the kit.
More Background and Installation
Surge tanks or "swirl pots" are common solutions to fuel starve problems among track enthusiasts and professional race teams across the globe. Our solution is technically not a swirl pot, it's a surge tank. The difference is a bit academic, but the result is the same-- no more fuel starve! The tank holds sufficient fuel to power a 285whp Lotus for over 30 seconds of complete fuel starvation-- an impossible scenario.
